Becoming a Commercial Instructor
Accredited Commercial InstallationMasters™ Instructors are responsible for organizing classes, collecting and submitting the registration materials and fees, conducting the classes, and administering examinations in accordance with the program guidelines.In order to qualify to apply for participation in the program and take the accredited commercial instructor's examination, individuals must demonstrate compliance with at least one of the following criteria:
- Five (5) or more years experience as an instructor, teacher, or trainer in the field of building products and technology related to commercial window and door installation and three (3) or more years of commercial construction experience. Persons qualifying through this criterion include, but are not limited to, vocational instructors, shop teachers, armed services instructors and college professors.
- Five (5) or more years working as a crew leader or field supervisor installing commercial fenestration products.
- Five (5) or more years experience working for a commercial fenestration manufacturer in engineering, product design, project management, or field services.
- Five (5) or more years experience working as a team leader, project manager, or supervisor in a fenestration testing laboratory with responsibilities related to installing and testing commercial windows and doors.
- Five (5) or more years employed with an installation material manufacturer with responsibilities related to installation of commercial windows and doors.
- Five (5) or more years working as a fenestration consultant in the area of commercial windows and doors with specific experience in installation.

Registration Process
Commercial instructor candidates must fill out and submit a registration form along with the following registration materials to the Administrator:- Verification of the prerequisite experience as described above. This may be in the form of a letter from a current or past employer.
- Registration fee made payable to Architectural Testing.
Taking the Examination
Commercial instructor candidates must take the closed-book written examination at the end of the training class, and will be required to demonstrate acceptable teaching skills as determined by the Lead Instructor. The examination shall consist of multiple choice questions. No teaching aids or reference materials of any kind are permitted during the examination.Commercial instructor candidates who do not pass the written examination shall be permitted to take a re-examination no sooner than one (1) week after their initial examination. The re-examination shall be administered by the Administrator or a proctor who has been approved by the Administrator. Candidates who do not demonstrate satisfactory teaching skills as determined by the Lead Trainer shall be permitted to demonstrate their teaching skills anytime following their initial evaluation.
